Andrea Vance reports on Stuff that Former National MP Bob “the Builder” Clarkson is defecting to the ACT Party.

Clarkson has all the attributes the ACT Party is looking for. He’s:

• old
• rich
• white
• male
• irrelevant
• a former National MP
• a “colourful” character (I could use stronger language to describe him, but I would be risking a defamation suit).

Clarkson says he doesn’t want to be a candidate for ACT, but with all these outstanding qualifications, he could well have a shot at the ACT leadership if he wants it.
